What Is Humanity Inspires?

Before I get into why I created Humanity Inspires, let me first say thank you. I could not write enough words to express my gratitude for your support. I never imagined having thousands of followers, a website, a blog, an email subscription list, and now an OFFICIAL business.

ONCE UPON A TIME

Humanity Inspires’ Story

A lot of times hobbies are self-imposed on us by our parents’ attempt to keep us active and honestly to give them a break. The same could have happened to me except my parents asked me what I wanted to do. Every summer I was at a different summer camp and during the year I took various classes at my local recreation center. I didn’t narrow down just one hobby until I started taking ballet, tap, and jazz at a local dance company in the fifth grade.

Once I went to college, my grueling school schedule and involvement in community organizations fulfilled my hobby deficit. Post-college is when I started to get worried. What would I do in my spare time once I started working a full time job? In college, I learned the value of having multiple streams of income by monetizing hobbies. Well with no mastered skillset, monetizing a hobby was out of the question. Also, I had NO desire to become an entrepreneur. So, I was stuck with what I knew best. Participating in community organizations.

ON A HOBBY MISSION

Quote

In college I was told I had a way of sharing the news that drew people in. As time has passed, my excitement for sharing breaking news stories has been helpful to my Facebook friends as they can count on me to let them know when their children’s schools were closed due to snow. I can’t tell you how many times my friends and coworkers told me I was working in the wrong profession, or I needed to start a blog. I didn’t entertain any of their opinions because watching the news was just something I had always done since I was a young child.

Fast forward to January 2017. I had become frustrated with mainstream media. Their news coverage fed into the opinion that news is depressing. Since I was a news connoisseur, I knew there were so many positive and inspiring news stories that were not being shared. This is when Humanity Inspires was born.

I decided I would create an Instagram page and Facebook group where I could post positive news stories. Initially, I would screenshot the title of the article, post it as a picture, and include a summary of the article in its caption. In my Facebook group, I would include the link to the article. Then I decided to step up my game and started posting screenshots of motivational quotes.

FACEBOOK GROUP CHANGED EVERYTHING

Light Bulb Moment

A Facebook group I was in, posted a follow–to–follow challenge. All I had to do was provide the link to my Instagram account and follow other Instagram accounts in the comment section of the post. It usually took me a year to get maybe a 100 new followers. This challenge allowed me to get that same number of new followers in a few weeks. I was blown away!!

I decided to make gaining more followers a top priority. I started doing the following:

  • I joined other Facebook groups that had follow-to-follow challenges.
  • I started reaching out to Instagram accounts I followed that had thousands of followers to ask them how they gained followers.
  • I learned about different mobile apps that reposted posts shared by other followers. That meant goodbye to screenshots.
  • I started using social media scheduling mobile apps.

Besides participating in follow–to–follow challenges, scheduling apps was the best advice I received. I was posting a few times a day in real-time, and it was a CHALLENGE. Now I could sit on my sofa on a Sunday and schedule my new posts for the following week. This became a GAME CHANGER especially when the pandemic started, and I decided I needed to increase the number of posts I shared daily.

PHASES OF MY LEARNING CURVE

Unpredictable Learning Curve

During the summer of 2021, I decided it was time for Humanity Inspires to have a website and to expand my social media presence. Creating a website was by far to date my biggest LEARNING CURVE. Many days I wanted to quit. I cannot tell you how many YouTube tutorial videos I watched. I also started to invest financially in learning more about content development and subscribed to numerous email listservs that provided free trainings. Check out Humanity Inspires’ website by clicking here. I also created a Twitter page. Click here to follow.

GOAL SETTING FOR THE NEW YEAR

New Year. New Goals.

Once the holidays rolled around, I then realized it was time to monetize Humanity Inspires. Not just for wealth but to at least begin to cover my expenses for web hosting, scheduling apps, and paid trainings. Once the end of the year holidays rolled in, I had a vision for 2022.
